Kirill Muniabin (b.1978) is a lens-based visual artist. Lives and works in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia.
In his projects, Kirill works at the intersection of post-documentary approaches and performative practice. His work brings together real biographies and memories, feelings of vulnerability and loneliness that exist within the everyday life. He combines observation with directing, and documentary material with reconstruction. Using realist photography as his primary tool, he assembles facts and inner experience into a single visual narrative. Kirill’s work is aimed at an encounter with the silence of memory, an experience in which the viewer pieces together meaning from pauses and details. His projects immerse the viewer in a state where one recognizes one’s own zones of silence in someone else’s story, and the personal within the frame becomes a shared experience.
